Chamonix Mont Blanc is equally popular in the summer as it is in the winter months. There is so much to do in the valley and surrounding area for lovers of mountains and outdoor enthusiasts of all abilities.

Mountain Biking & Cycling, Climbing, Walking, Paragliding, Canoeing,....the potential is limitless.

The mountains are net-worked throughout by well marked paths suitable for all grades walkers and climbers have limitless opportunities for mountaineering adventures. Even for the once-a-year rambler the major lift systems continue working allowing wonderful access to the top of the mountain areas. For the experienced climber there are well appointed alpine huts with guardians from which early morning starts can be made on firm snow to reach the many climbing peaks in the surrounding area. For intermediate climbers maps are available with details of the times taken to reach various points thus enabling circular trips to be planned in advance to ensure safe return before nightfall.

Some of the mountain paths are specially marked for Mountain Bikes (VTT = Velo Tout Terrain) according to grade. On these, bikes have priority. On all others, walkers have priority.

In Chamonix itself the Aiguille du Midi is a great attraction and dining on the roof of Europe is unforgettable. The Montenvers train is a wonderful experience and gives access to the Ice Caves which are carved out of the Mer de Glace as well as a great way to access the heart of the most amazing mountain scenery. For kids of all ages the Luge d'Ete near the Montenvers Train station in Chamonix is well worth experiencing - it's the closest most of us will get to a bobsleigh.

The view below is from near the Military Hut - a summer hostel and year-round cafe - easily reached by a gentle contour round from the Lognan Cable Car station. The Grand Roc apartments can be seen in the centre of the valley bottom.
